Main 24 Hour Branch - Barnsley
CHANGE IN OUT OF HOURS EMERGENCY COVER
After caring for our clients and their pets for the last 45 years with full 24hour Emergency Care – we find we are no longer in a position to be able to carry on providing a full night service.
The toll on our Abbey Team, Vets, Nurses and Receptionists during this horrific 12 months of Covid has been extreme to say the least.
We will continue to provide full 24 hour Veterinary and Nursing care to Hospitalised pets and attend to emergencies during our opening hours.
However, we can no longer be on call for any new emergencies which may come in after our normal working surgery hours.
It saddens us greatly and we sincerely regret this decision but currently, we are unable to continue to provide this service.
From now on at night 'VETS NOW' in Sheffield and Doncaster will be responsible for assisting you with any emergency, essential queries or urgent medical needs you have for your pet. When we are closed our telephone answering machine will provide this number.
They are a night service only and do not open during the day.
We will still be responsible for handling your pet-related Emergencies between:
8am and 8 pm Monday to Friday
8am until 5pm Saturdays and Sundays.
8am until 5pm on Bank Holidays
As normal, routine booked appointments on Weekends and Bank Holidays are at our standard fees.
Who better to look after your best friend than a veterinary team who are already trusted by thousands of pet owners in South Yorkshire
If you live in Barnsley and want your pet to be cared for by trusted and caring professionals, then pop into Abbey Vets today. The Abbey Vets Barnsley Centre is the heart of our veterinary family and is open every day including weekends and bank holidays, so you’re sure to find a time that is convenient to visit.
Abbey Vets was originally established in 1978 when practice principal Tony Duffy opened the doors of his first small veterinary practice in Thurscoe – a small village between Barnsley and Doncaster. In 1980 the practice was moved to Barnsley and over the years has developed into the centre that it is today, offering an array of services including a 24 hour emergency facility.
The Barnsley Centre now treats over thousands of patients from the local community, and our vets regularly see a diverse collection of pets including rabbits, dogs, cats, birds and tortoises. If you would like to bring your pet along to the Barnsley Centre, simply give us a call. You’re always more than welcome to pop in at any time, but if you ring us beforehand, we can arrange for a member of our friendly team to be available to give you the grand tour.
Remember, if you have a new puppy or kitten, they will receive a free health check as we want to make sure your new best friend has the best start in life.
As one of South Yorkshire’s leading veterinary care providers, we are professional in all areas of pet care. So whether it’s time for your pet’s booster vaccination, or you simply need some advice about another aspect of their health, a short trip to our surgery could help put your mind at ease.
If you struggle to transport your best friend to the Barnsley Centre safely, please do not worry. Simply give our friendly and understanding team a call and we will arrange to pick you and your pet up in our animal ambulance.
To register your pet or to book an appointment at our Abbey Vets Barnsley Centre, call our team today on 01226 242 217 and we’ll be more than happy to help you.
